Sexual assault is a deeply traumatic experience that can leave survivors feeling isolated, overwhelmed, and unsure where to turn. Whether the assault happened recently or years ago, healing is possible—and no one should have to go through it alone.

At the Gulf Coast Center for Nonviolence, we offer comprehensive, confidential services for survivors of sexual assault, regardless of age, gender, or background. Our team is here to listen without judgment, affirm your experience, and support you on your healing journey at your own pace.

24-Hour Rape Crisis Response

The Center’s sexual assault program provides 24-hour, 7 day per week crisis response to victims of sexual assault. These services are available for men, women, and children. Sexual assault advocates are available to assist victims undergoing examination or treatment in local area hospitals. Our advocates may stay with victims to help them through the examination process, offer support, and provide information on follow-up counseling and services.

Forensic Medical Clinic

The GCCFN Forensic Clinic provides no-cost medical examinations and forensic evidence collection for survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and/or strangulation. We are proud to be the first in the state of Mississippi to implement the CortexFlo Camera, a trauma-informed technology that strengthens forensic evidence collection in sexual assault and strangulation cases, while prioritizing survivor dignity and increasing the likelihood of justice being served.

In addition to our onsite medical services, the Forensic Medical Clinic also provides Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANEs) on a contracted basis to local area hospitals, ensuring that survivors of sexual assault are able to receive proper trauma-informed care during sexual assault examinations regardless of which hospital they visit.

Counseling

Our individual and group counseling services offer a safe, supportive space to heal from the trauma, explore personal challenges, build emotional resilience, and find clarity. Our licensed clinical staff are here to help their clients navigate with non-judgmental, compassionate care. Counseling is free, confidential, and available for survivors in our shelter program or in the community through our nonresidential program.

Case Management

Our Case Management service connects individuals and families with the resources they need to thrive. We provide personalized support, helping you navigate housing, healthcare, employment, and other essential services to promote stability and self-sufficiency.

Legal Services

The Northcutt Legal Clinic provides civil legal representation to resolve problems caused by abuse suffered by victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, or stalking, who are otherwise unable to afford such services.

SANE Training

GCCFN works with the medical community and MS Sexual Assault Coalition to facilitate training of Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANEs) for our Forensic Medical Clinic and local hospitals. SANEs ensure that patients who arrive at hospitals as a result of sexual assault receive trauma-informed compassionate care, and that forensic evidence is collected in a manner to best support prosecution of perpetrators.
